T-Mobile has pretty much confirmed that the Android-operated G2 is coming out this year. T-Mobile launched the original G1 made by cell phone manufacturer HTC (aka the Google phone) in October 2008.

Prediction: The T-Mobile G2, or followup to the Android-operated G1, will go on sale by June 1, 2009.

According to this (updated on Jan 23, 2009), HTC Sapphire (aka G2) will be release in April 2009.
G2 with FCC activity. June 1 is now very likely.
G2 debut in April for Vodaphone. T-Mobile in US won't be far behind.
Im quite confuse, why HTC is adopting this strategy of introducing their handsets with telecom service providers such as T-Mobile or Vodafone. It already has built a good brand name and its business strategy looks like the company wnats to sell more self-brand phones, then why HTC is not selling G1 or G2 under its own brand.

Hot off the press.....according to a T-mobile representative, who is a VERY reliable source of mine, The G2 will not be released in the US until mid to late 2010! The reason....they need to sell most of the G1 inventory, which hasn't sold the way they expected. Don't hate i'm just the messenger!
According to another t-mobile rep, they won't release the G2 any time in the near future because they don't want it to interfere with the sales of the new sidekick which comes out soon. Looks bad for a 6/1 release date.
I have a parent who works at tmobile, and she said they r coming out with it soon.
AT LEAST THEY COULD OF CAME OUT WITH FLASH FOR THIS G1 BY NOW !

i need to get the G2. someone stole my G1 and i am not buying that ugly fucking phone again; sorry... the G1 is horribly UGLY!!!! whoever designed it should be fired; for real... anyway.. the G2 better be all ON SCREEN touchscreen only and fuck the FLIP/slide function shit... that shit is old fashioned and you need to have thicker phones for that shit.. if the G2 doesnt live up to my expectations (closer to the IPHONE) i am going with AT&T for the IPHONE... The g1 is the best phone I ever had it got everything on. Its way better than the iphone the storm all dat shit the iphone dnt really have to many option 4 u they buttons suck and storm who gives a fuck about it but g1 is the best phone ever cus of its market

lol sorry its really called My Touch....
My son-in-law is a dealer and my daughter told me he just got a pre-released G2 (she got his G1). I haven't talked to him about it to know his opinion but I do know he LOVED his G1. I see on the T-Mo website that they are referring to it as My Touch.
the mytouch is a completly different phone by android, the g2 will have a keyboard just still no official release date
