Kevin Martin, the current FCC chair, has been rumored to be ready to step down from the position (probably after DTV transition. Mr. Genachowski, a former college mate of Obama at Harvard Law School is currently part of Obama's transition team. His past experience as an FCC advisor may serve him well to be position as the candidate of choice as Kevin Martin's successor.
PREDICTION: Julius Genachowski nominated for FCC Chairman position to succeed Kevin Martin by end of February 2009.
