Prediction markets are becoming an "in" thing for the web. On September 19, Reuters joins Hubdub prediction market. Launched beginning of 2008, it has been relatively slow in its initial growth with occasional growth spurts. Relative to Industry Standard, it still lags behind in both Monthly Uniques. However, it managed nearly 125% growth on uniques in August. Hubdub offers an incentive for users to log on daily to site by "paying" H$20 (Hubdub play money) into user's account.

HubDub has made a lot of interesting content syndication deals lately (e.g, Huffington Post). 100,000 uniques based on their current trajectory does seem ambitious, however. I met these guys, and they are very smart and totally cool. I wish them the very best.
I'm very interested to see their September figures, keeping in mind that Compete seriously under reports; the trends are *usually* close while the figures themselves are off.
I changed this from a negative into a positive.
LOL
We've found Compete to tend to get the trajectory right but undercount by about 60%. In August we actually did 110,000 monthly uniques (according to Google Analytics) however Compete only recorded 45,000. So to hit 100,000 on Compete we will have to hit about 250,000. I'm pretty confident on the current trajectory we should hit that.
