Variety is citing industry sources claiming that based on pre-sale numbers and shipments to retailers that GTA IV may clear $400,000,000 in sales during its first week on the market. It is due for release on April 29th. This would far exceed the current video game record holder, Halo 3 (with ~$300,000,000).

GTA IV presales continue to hold 2 positions in the top-5 video games sales list at Amazon the week prior to release. GTA IV for XBox ranks 3rd this week, while GTA IV for PS3 ranks 5th. Special Editions of GTA IV for the two consoles currently rank 18th and 23rd respectively.
