The Indsutry Standard is reporting that Woot.com is selling refurbished iPod Nanos at a steep discount and has speculated that a new generation of the mid-range model will be released come September.
There have been 3 generations of iPod Nano so far, released September 7, 2005, September 12, 2006, and September 5, 2007 (source: Wikipedia). This is a prediction that Apple will continue their history of release dates and introduce the next generation of the iPod Nano in September, 2008.
For this prediction to be judged a success the new iPod Nano must be sold under that name (i.e. the iPod Nano would not be considered a "next generation iPod Mini") and the intent is that there is a significant redesign (i.e. a new version of the same generation such as a spec change (e.g. 16GB) or a new color (e.g. Project Red) is not sufficient).
This prediction will close on July 31st unless the fourth generation iPod Nano is released prior to that date.

I think there will be another iPod centric event in september, after all, why not? Apple needs to re-look at their iPods, especially the touch, since the release of the iPhone. Who knows whats going to be done to make the iPod more attractive?
