One of the most exciting developments of the iPhone and iPod Touch is the ability to download applications from a single place called the Apple App Store.

Since its launch in early July of 2008, the Apple App Store has been a financial success for Apple. On September 9 at Apple's "Let's Rock" event, Steve Jobs announced that there were about 3000 available applications at the Apple App Store.

Mobclix has stats on every application at the Apple App Store. As of October 11, there were a total of 4,093 applications (974 free, 3119 paid) and growing.

PREDICTION: Apple App Store will host at least 10,000 applications (free and paid) by end of 2008. Judgment will be made based on the metrics reported by mobclix.
