Google's initiatives to branch into mobile computing (Android) and social networking API (open social) will be viewed as 'failures' by the grated technology community. Much progress won't be made by either of these initiatives in 2008. Adndroid and open social won't translate into any revenue won' see wide adoption.

Could be very difficult or impossible to judge this contract.

My suggestion would be to first separate the two issues into two different contracts, one for Android and one for Open Social. Then change the contract title to something like "Google will announce that it is no longer pursuing Android by ___" and then in the description describe how Google will either sell, abandon, cease development, or no longer support the initiative.

Android seems to have a lot of backing from some Wireless handset chip makers, and the overall "open-source, google is cool" trend affects gen y managers pretty heavily. I vote yes. For more info check out reports on the TI phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week.
