Judgment made on April 1, 2009: The Woz was part of a double-elimination that knocked out the third and fourth contestants yesterday. Though Woz's name was announced after third castoff Holly Madison, the nature of the double-elimination round makes Woz a victim of the same fate. Therefore, this prediction is judged favorably, which a majority of the community got right. -- The Industry Standard

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak will be one of 13 contestants on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. The Woz faces some tough competition. The eighth season reality show includes Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson, rapper Lil' Kim, and former NY Giants player Lawrence Taylor.

Prediction: The Woz and his dancing partner do not make the top 10. For a favorable judgment, Wozniak and his partner must be one of the first three couples voted off the show.

Update: This prediction clearly didn't factor half the cast members getting injured and dropping out like flies. For clarification, if the Woz pulls out of competition on his own, this prediction will not come true.  If the Woz stays on and doesn't compete because of injury, thereby avoiding being one of the first three couples voted off, this prediction will also not come true.

@Yi-Wyn, guess I missed the window yet again. I submitted a suggestion on this earlier as well but with Steve making it to the Top 10 instead.

@David, top 10? You have a lot of faith...

@Yi-Wyn, it was only meant as a prediction. How I would bet may differ. Although I am not one to discount anyone in the DWTS show, I placed a "FOR" bet on this one. If my suggestion of Top 10 had been the prediction, I would have placed an "AGAINST" bet. However, nothing is a sure bet at this time given that we are not aware of the capabilities nor the charm the celebrity exudes on the show (i.e. Cloris Leachman [Season 7] Adam Carolla [Season 6] etc). If I have to guess, given the list of 13 celebrities, it will be a female to take the trophy once again this year.

Ooof. Watching the Woz cha-cha was painful. I think he broke my tv.

I think he is full of charm and he dances better with his Segway!

The Woz is the latest "victim" of the DWTS curse as he has a foot fracture and is forced to wear a removable cast.

Maybe he'll get some sympathy votes for soldiering on as an injured contestant.

Steve just pulled a hamstring last Friday. Can Steve pull out another upset by not being 2nd contestant to be eliminated? Chances are with the double-whammy injury and his gaffe for calling the DWTS producers liars (which he apologized later), Steve is a shoo-in for elimination, IMHO. Then again, there is a chance that he is given a "pass" to skip this week and as such escape the possibility of being the 2nd one booted.

According to http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b105532_dwts_steve_wo...

So if Woz's injuries take him out of the competition entirely, are we going to see a replacement for him? "No," says Tom. "The only thing it will impact is if there is one week we were going to have a double elimination and we wouldn't do that. But we'd still eliminate someone. So if [he] can't dance this week, we're still going to knock somebody else out anyway because that's the way we roll."

Since the judgment criteria states "For a favorable judgment, Wozniak and his partner must be one of the first three couples voted off the show.", skipping a week (i.e. a pass) or leaving the competition due to injury do not meet that criteria. We probably need TIS to provide clarification given the state of Mr. Wozniak's injury.

Geek power saved Wozniak from being the 2nd one eliminated. Odds has just increased that "The Woz" entertainment factor will push him into the top 10.

Woz should be axed, but he has a lot of fans outside of the dancing world (like, all of them). And, I think so many people simply feel sorry for him when he's out there. It's the cringe factor; it's like a horror movie that makes you hide behind your hands and chuckle at the same time.

Combine that with the fact that he's obviously such a nice guy, and really having fun. . . shoot, why not? Let him dream his little dream a for another week or two. At least he's trying.

So is this going to be judged as not happening?

Yes. After DWTS eliminates #3 and #4 on March 31 show.

@TIS, Just for clarification, if the Woz is not the #3 voted off tonight (I suspect Steve-O or Holly Madison), then criteria would have been met even if Woz turns out to be #4.

@David, that's correct. However, if DWTS decides to vote off two contestants simultaneously in the double elimination and not clarify who is #3 or #4, then that will be counted as a third castoff.

@Yi-Wyn, with DWTS, the booting occurs in the order of lowest votes. This is used to dictate the finale dances in the order of contestants booted. As such, IMO, Holly Madison is #3 and Woz is #4.
