Editor's Note: According to Eric Savitz, RIMM's quarterly report beat Wall Street's expectations today. "In after hours trading, RIMM shares are up $3.39, or 2.9%, to $119.18. The stock fell $1.69 in the regular session," Savitz reported. This prediction was closed on April 2nd. However, should the stock go over $130 at any time on April 3rd, those that bet in favor of this prediction will be awarded accordingly. --The Industry Standard
Citing AmTech Research's Rob Sanderson, Henry Blodget over on Silicon Alley Insider wrote a bullish post last week about RIM's earnings call this Wednesday, April 3rd, predicting a soaring stock price.
This is a prediction that RIM's stock price will rise to $130 or above on April 3rd. To clarify: in order to be judged favorably, RIM's stock price at the close of the market on April 3rd does NOT need to be $130 or more; if the stock simply breaks $130 during trading on April 3rd but dips back below at close, this will still be grounds for favorable judgement.
At the writing of this prediction, the RIM (RIMM) is trading around $114.
NOTE: To quote Blodget, "AmTech analysts consistently have the balls to lay it all out there, and regardless of what happens with RIM, Rob is certainly no exception." Hehe.

"Wow. We might quietly suggest that Rob have one fewer cups of coffee before writing about RIM, but we applaud the conviction."
Heh.
Uhm, why was this prop closed?
I bet against, so the close at 0% helps me, but it's too early.
The prediction is about what RIMM will do in intraday trading tomorrow. Halting it today would have been reasonable (IF that had been the original halt time listed, which it wasn't). Judging it today isn't under any circumstances.
I would have cashed out just now at 11.41%. I think there's at least that much chance of a burst tomorrow, although I think it's unlikely. After-hours trading has it just over $120 as of right now, so it's not likely to jump another $10 tomorrow.
You're right, Bradley. Due to issues like this one, we're working in the background on a "halt" switch to allow us to halt bets at any time without making a judgment. The editor that created this one wanted to halt bets on April 2nd, and see what happened on April 3rd - he entered the original date incorrectly.
Per your earlier comment about closing predictions a few days before judgment, that's what he intended to do, but erred in the implementation.
So, this prediction became a bit messy. But, in the chance that RIMM's price somehow shoots up tomorrow by the closing bell, we'll award those who bet in favor accordingly.
But you're right - this shouldn't have happened this way, and we'll try harder to avoid this next time.
By the way, look for a new feature to go-live on the 3rd (tomorrow) which will allow members to notify editors when they think a stock should be judged early (prediction flags). That should help keep the judgments in line a bit more, too.
The high point today for RIMM was $124.03. So, this did not occur, which the community predicted correctly.
