Update on September 4, 2008: Overlay.tv came out of beta today.
Judgment on July 1, 2008: As predicted by the community, Overlay.TV did not come out of beta status by the end of June, 2008. Judged at S$0. -- The Industry Standard
Original Prediction: Overlay.TV's interactive media platform is a complex application, but there will be a lot of pressure to bring it out of beta sooner rather than later.
That pressure is the current economic malaise, and the prospect of an advertising downturn if the pain progresses. Overlay.TV needs to officially bring the platform out of beta within the next few months in order to sign up more clients and show that it's a viable production environment for marketing campaigns.
The criteria for determining this prediction are either a formal announcement by Overlay.TV management, or the "beta" graphic permanently disappears from the front-page logo before July 1, 2008.
This prediction will close approximately one week before the judgement date, or when an announcement is made, or when the beta logo disappears, whichever comes first. Might want to check the text and dates here. This looks like a bunch was borrowed from the SceneCaster prediction and not correctly modified.
Good catch, Bradley. The date is correct but I removed the "SceneCaster" reference.
Mmmm, at least one of the dates is wrong.
"before July 1, 2008. This prediction will close approximately one week before the judgement date,"
The posted closing date is May 26th, which on MY calendar isn't "approximately one week" before July 1. :)
I don't know which of the three is incorrect (May 26, 1 week, or July 1), but at least one of them has to be.
Another good catch ... I've changed the posted closing date to June 26, as was originally intended.
Well, Overlay TV remained in Beta as of July 1.
