Judgment made on February 18, 2009: Nintendo announced that the DSi will be available in the U.S. on April 4. It will retail for $170. The community correctly judged this prediction. -- The Industry Standard
Original prediction: Nintendo introduced its 3rd generation of the DS, the top-selling portable game console, exclusively in Japan last November. The new DSi is 12% thinner than the DS Lite, boasts a larger screen, dual cameras, and improved sound quality.
Nintendo sold more than a half million DSi units in its first month. No word yet on when the new portable gaming console will be sold in the U.S. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata recently said, "An autumn or year-end launch would probably be too late." In other words, the company will plan to ship the DSi to Europe and/or North America by summer 2009.
Prediction: The Nintendo DSi will be made available in the U.S. by May 31, 2009.

I think that's about right. The DS Lite launched around then in 2006. Plus, the DS Lite sales are starting to decrease- perfect time to release an upgrade! They will remake the Wii, and sell it around 2012, so be looking for that then! I've been following when they released their protables, and upgrades to those portables. Here the list:

N4G speculates DSi US launch announcement to be made at the GDC 2009 (March 23-27, 2009), at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco where Satoru Iwata will be the keynote speaker.
Official Nintendo doc is showing a launch date between Mar 1 - Aug 30, 2009.

LOL! I was just going by simple probably. The range means 40% chance it falls within prediction timeline. 60% outside. This is official documentation from Nintendo and not from blogs/rumor mill. Given the strong DS sales in the US and the fact that DS is far from being out of stock, I am going by my gut that 60% is more likely than the 40%.
