Prediction judgment on January 6, 2008: To everyone's surprise (including our own), this prediction did not come true.  The community was 86% positive that this would come to pass, and in a rare instance was wrong.  -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction: Apple's director of engineering of Unix technologies, Jordan Hubbard, pushed up an unofficial slide noting a Snow Leopard release of Q1 2009 during a presentation on the evolution of OS X at the LISA '08 conference last week.

Via MacRumors:

While technical readers may find the content of Hubbard's presentation slides (PDF) quite interesting, the most surprising revelation is a more specific target date for Apple's Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard): 1st Quarter 2009.

Prediction: Will Apple formally announce or demo Snow Leopard during the keynote address at Macworld 2009 in San Francisco?  Judgment will be made after the conclusion of the keynote.  Let the community decide.  Place your bets below.

When will we know an exact date for snowleopards os x 10.6 release date. I don't know if to buy an imac now with leopard 10.5 on for £1066 as i need it because ive recently become self employed designer and im working off a pc. The question is, should i wait?. How much are the new imacs going to be? How much will the 10.5 imacs come down in price?

Is anyone else in the predicament?

@Martin,

I think you should *at least* wait until next week for the Macworld keynote. By Jan 5, you should know if you should wait, or take the plunge. I wouldn't make any big purchases this week. Just wait a week.

Thank you for the advise Eric, its driving me crazy working on my 17inch laptop.

Mac.com,Mac OS X and Mobile me are my life, I really love Mac.com, and Mac OS X is more popular,beautiful-creative pictures and safest ! I love purchasing newest-version Mac OS X Snow Leopard so badly !

Has anyone heard any news yet from Macworld 2009 in San Francisco, any dates?

This is a major surprise to the community. Not only was there not a demo, there was not a single mention of it. Sigh.

I'm serious - Apple must be planning for a February "Special Apple Event" in Cupertino. Hm....
