It is official, MSFT dropped their bid for Yahoo! and at least for now, ain't comin' back. Ballmer even said that the Redmond giant wasn't planning a proxy fight, either, pursuing instead a more "organic" strategy. --The Industry Standard
We hate to even suggest it because we give the guy all the credit in the world for building up Yahoo!, but after reading this article on Cnet and other reports it appears the pressure is really mounting with the Microsoft offer and the board is not united behind Yang.
It's highly likely that he'll have to go to make the Yahoo! - Microsoft deal a reality.
The requirements for this prediction are that 1) Jerry Yang leaves Yahoo (proving he was "ousted" may be difficult), 2) the Microsoft takeover is successful and 3) this all occurs beofore the end of May.
