Former HP CEO Carly Fiorina has made waves in recent years, not only as a female technology leader, but also for stumping for Republican John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign. Now her political aspirations are aiming much higher. Fiorina has said that she is "seriously considering a race in California". All indications are pointing to a run against Democrat Barbara Boxer, the incumbent California senator, in the 2010 election.

Other California politicians have also been discussed as potential opponents to Boxer -- most notably Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is running up against term limits for his current post  -- but Fiorina's business experience might shine more brightly, compared to local politicians who were burned in recent budget fights in Sacramento.

Prediction: Carly Fiorina formally announces a run for the California Senate by the end of 2009.

A SF Chronicle article that brings up her "spotty" voting record:

If she's still deciding today, she isn't running.

A potential problem for Fiorina, over business registrations:

Thanks David, I will keep an eye on this. Looks like it's going to happen, or we wouldn't be seeing this type of press.

It's just a formality. It's a lot like an exploratory committee. I would say this indicates she is putting forth effort to explore the idea, but not an actual bid.

Hopefully she can help bring some California finances and politics back in balance.

Just another hi-glammed elite interested in her own fat pockets. Read the history!!!

Rumor is that Carly will be making an announcement shortly.

She will make the announcement on Nov 6.
