Recent Read/Write Web and Mashable articles reveal that Facebook is preparing its much anticipated instant messenger (IM) feature for the popular social networking site.
This is a prediction that the functionality will be available to all Facebook users by 11:59 pm PT April 14, 2008. Bets will close a few days early to prevent "gaming" the prediction.

I don't understand why this prediction was closed.
I'm a Facebook user and I don't have the IM functionality yet. The prediction clearly states that "the functionality will be available to all Facebook users".
What gives?
Can, you have a good point, especially since it was your own prediction! On the official FB blog they say "We'll be rolling this out slowly going forward, but fairly soon you'll notice our new Chat bar at the bottom of your browser—no installation or assembly required." We'll keep a close eye on this. If "fairly soon" doesn't turn out to be before April 14th (the original close), we'll figure out how to make this right. Thanks for flagging, we really appreciate it, and all apologies for our haste!
Can -- this definitely wasn't rolled out to all users -- I still don't have it myself, for instance. More soon. . .
