Judgment on April 9, 2009: After a rally of +246 points, the Dow made strong gains to end this prediction. However, since the New York Stock Exchange will be closed on Good Friday, this prediction did not come true in the allotted timeframe. The community was correct. -- The Industry Standard
Original prediction:
Are we headed for a bull market or another bear market rally? A bull market needs at least a 30% rise in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, according to institutional firm Ned Davis Research.
The DJIA spiked 6.8% on March 23 from the previous close and rose 18.8% over the last two weeks. In order for the DJIA to rise 30%, it will need to surpass 8500 from its 2009 low of 6547.05 on March 9.
Prediction: The Dow Jones Industrial Average rises above 8500 by April 10. The closing date of the DJIA will be used to judge this prediction.
