Circuit City is in trouble. The stock is currently trading at around $0.35, having lost over 90% of its value this year.

A report recently emerged recently that Circuit City is considering closing up to 20% of its retail locations and cut thousands of jobs to avoid bankruptcy.

As noted by MarketWatch, “A filing from Circuit City would make it the largest retailer to enter bankruptcy protection in several years.”

Prediction: Will Circuit City either announce a sale of the company or file for bankruptcy protection by end of February 2009? Let the community decide. Place your bets below.

Great minds thinking alike! :)

Sorry you went through the trouble, David. Eric, Ian and I started working on this prediction last week as reports first emerged. I've let Eric know that you also created one.

Readers: I closed this prediction -- Circuit City has indeed filed for bankruptcy.
