Judgment made on March 3, 2009: The Chicago Sun-Times lives another day. This prediction did not come true, which the community correctly predicted. -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction: After an embezzlement scandal by former execs and plummeting ad revenues, the Chicago Sun-Times is bracing for more job cuts, while others are simply defecting.

Amidst stiff competition from online news and blogs, printed newspapers are becoming less and less competitive in today's marketplace.  A major sea change in advertising is underway from newspapers and TV to the Web.

Predict: Will the Chicago Sun-Times fold, or be acquired, before the end of February, 2009?  For favorable judgement, one of the following criteria must be met:

1) Chicago Sun-Times ceases operation by end of February 2009
2) Announcement of the Chicago Sun-Times being acquired by end of February 2009

CEO to step down at end of month. With the new board replacement and task to find replacement for CEO, this prediction is not likely to end favorably.
