Judgment on January 6, 2009:  This announcement was not made during the 2009 SF keynote, which the community correctly predicted.  This ancient rumor will likely continue to live on for years to come.  -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction:

On August 28, the US Patent and Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple.

According to AppleInsider:

"Apple Inc. illustrates a number of techniques that would pave the way for tablet Macs that display a near full-sized multi-touch keyboard and run an undiluted version of the Mac OS X operating system."

Could this 6 year old rumor finally come true?

A favorable judgement will be made on this prediction if an announcement is made by the end of the keynote speech, meeting ALL of the following criteria:

  1. Announcement is made by the conclusion of Macworld Expo keynote speech on, January 5, 2009
  2. Device is a Mac tablet computer or a mini-tablet Mac, running a full version of OS X
  3. Device has multitouch capabilities on the main screen
