Apple notebook sales up 61% since Q1 '07, trouncing much of the competition

Apple shipped 1.43 million notebooks in Q1 2008, showing 61 percent sales growth over last year, when the company shipped just under 900,000 units.

Apple's stunning growth was second only to Asus in percentage , with a 67% rise in sales, much of which can be attributed to its Eee mini-notebooks. Apple has yet to show interest in this arena and doesn't have a contender -- yet.

As of today, Apple marks a 4.6 percent share of the notebook market, well behind industry leader HP, which has a 20 percent share and had a 40 percent YoY sales growth. Get the full chart at 9to5Mac.
