Briefly: Dell adds a little Mac to its PC

Dell released their new Studio 15 and 17 inch notebooks today, a colorful addition between their high end XPS and basic Inspiron line. The notebooks will have the run-of-mill specs, Core2duo’s, up for 4 gigs of ram, hundreds of gigs of hard drive space and ATI Mobility dedicated graphics cards all starting at $799.

But in an odd twist Dell contracted windows customization team StarDock, to create an OS X-like navigation experience to preload with Vista systems. Strange that Dell is taking the OS experience into their own hands via customization. It has been long been rumored that Michael Dell has been pandering to Apple to have OS X installed on his machines, but this carbon copy of the OS X dock seems like a lackluster attempt to make up for the fact that it will never happen.
