Questions about the fate of BEA Systems products now that the company has been acquired by Oracle could be answered on July 1.

Oracle President Charles Phillips and Oracle Senior Vice President Thomas Kurian plan to hold a Webcast that day to "explore how the addition of BEA products to Oracle Fusion Middleware creates a best-in-class combination," according to the meeting invitation.

The Webcast is intended to provide insight into the strategic direction of Fusion Middlware as well as additional perspective into the BEA acquisition.

The combined company advances a "common vision" and reinforces Oracle's strategy to provide a comprehensive portfolio of world-class middleware products, pre-integrated solutions leveraging open standards and hot-pluggable middleware for heterogeneous IT environments, the invitation said.

Oracle has declined to be interviewed lately pertaining to its BEA acquisition. A person employed by BEA just prior to the closing of the deal said the BEA WebLogic Server Java application server would be an obvious choice to continue on after the merger.

BEA was acquired for US$8.5 billion, with the deal closing earlier this spring.
