LTE trials begin in US by end of June 2009

With the announcement of WiMAX joint venture in the new Clearwire, there will be a push to accelerate LTE. 3GPP Rel 8 that covers LTE is subject to finalization by end of 2008. Vendors have already demo'ed LTE based equipment (including chipset) that are not based on finalized requirement. It is predicted that carriers in US (i.e. Verizon Wireless, AT&T) will commence LTE trials by end of June 2009.
