BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) has posted the latest version of its BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) software for corporate mail deployments. BES 5.0 service pack 1 (SP1) is now available for download for Microsoft Exchange and IBM's Lotus Domino.

The BES update, released today, fixes a number of issues in the last version of BES and adds a variety of new features and enhancements. Among the assumed fixes is a solution to the mail-folder-related problem that forced RIM to pull BES 5.0 MR3 for Lotus Domino last month, though that specific fix is not mentioned in the BES 5.0 SP1 release notes.

BES 5.0 SP1 includes a number of tweaks to the BlackBerry Monitoring Service, which helps keep organizations' BES boxes up and running, including new sections for performance data and user stats, graphs, messaging server mappings and more, according to RIM.

A new BlackBerry device dashboard feature lets admins view BlackBerry Monitoring Service notifications, status alerts and messages while on the go via BlackBerry smartphones.

And BES 5.0 SP1 for both Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino adds support for the Windows Internet Explorer (IE) 8 Web browser, so BES admins can access the BlackBerry Administration Service, BlackBerry Monitoring Console and BlackBerry MDS Application Console, all using the latest version of IE.

Check out the full BES 5.0 SP1 release notes here. And you can download the update from RIM's website.
