In a sweeping announcement, Brocade and Oracle last week introduced a variety of solutions designed specifically for use with Oracle database and applications. Based on existing partnerships with NetApp, Sun/StorageTek and EMC, Brocade and Oracle have put together end-to-end networking packages for data warehousing, business applications and virtualization environments.

Specifically, Brocade 5300 switches and host bus adapters will be paired with EMC Symmetrix V-Max storage arrays and enterprise flash drives (EFD) to speed throughput for Oracle OLTP applications. Brocade will also pair its 5100 switches and host bus adapters (HBA) with EMC CLARiiON CX4 storage systems and EFDs for Oracle OLTP applications in midsized enterprises. The company will also combine its Brocade 300, 5100 and 5300 SAN Fibre Channel switches and its Brocade DCX backbone switches with Sun Fire or SPARC Enterprise servers and Sun storage systems and tape libraries for data warehousing workloads.

Brocade will also combine its ServerIron load-balancing appliance and its FastIron LS for IP connectivity with Sun Storage 7410 Unified Storage System for business intelligence applications.

The company has also validated configurations of Oracle VM, Brocade 300 switches, Brocade 815/825 HBAs and NetApp FAS3100 Series Storage systems to enhance application performance in virtual environments.

NetApp, EMC, Oracle and Sun/StorageTek will sell the bundles.
