iPhone accessories manufacturer IvySkin has introduced the "world's first" SmartCase for iPhone, featuring an interchangeable integrated battery and Touch-Thru glass screen case called the Quattro-T4.

While IvySkin points out that other companies offer extended batteries for the iPhone, none offer one as part of a case that is also fully removable.

According to the makers the SmartCase offers iPhone users an additional 200 per cent battery life, sending a signal to the iPhone to drain the smartcase's power first before using the iPhone's own battery.

The SmartCase, a protective polycarbonate hard shell case with Polysilicon coating, can be charged without removing the case and includes a USB cable and built-in power charger.

The IvySkin SmartCase for iPhone 3G/3GS costs $79.99, around £49, plus shipping costs.
