In seemingly record time, Apple has approved an Elgato EyeTV 1.0.1 update, replacing version 1.0, which was removed by Apple over the weekend.

Apple on Saturday removed the application over concerns it broke provider rules on streaming TV over 3G networks when a 'backdoor' was revealed in the application. However, the same version of the EyeTV application reappeared on Sunday causing some confusion. The application is designed to work over Wi-Fi.

The iPhone application lets Elgato EyeTV users view TV recordings wherever they are. EyeTV also gives users on the go control over remote recording, scheduling as well as providing a TV guide.

Also new in the Elgato EyeTV 1.0.1 update:

• Fixed a problem where audio would continue to play after leaving Live TV mode.

• Fixed a crash after zooming and changing channels (requires iPhone OS 3.1.2.)

• Accept iPod Best variants when streaming to the iPhone.

• Fixed a crash in the EPG when scrolling past midnight.

• Compatible with DVB and ATSC programming guide.

• General performance and stability improvements.

Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, EyeTV for iPhone and iPod touch costs £2.99 (US$4.90) and requires the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later, an EyeTV tuner and the EyeTV 3.2 or later Software Update or later.
