Sky has launched an app for Apple's iPhone that allows handset owners to browse an electronic programme guide (EPG) and choose TV shows to record on their Sky+ box at home.

Using the Remote Record app, users can browse seven days' worth of TV schedules and also view information on each of the programmes.

However, Sky does warn users that they must opt to record a show at least 30 mins before its start time to ensure the Sky+ box registers the command.

Apple's iTunes app store already offers the TV Plus app, which does the same thing, however it costs 2.99, unlike the Remote Record, which is free.
