Big Blue and Apple have settled a legal dispute over Mark Papermaster, a former IBM executive who Steve Jobs hired last October to head up the iPhone and iPod hardware development teams.
According to announcements from the two companies, Papermaster will start at Apple on April 24, six months after his departure from IBM.
Papermaster quit his job at IBM after he was offered the "opportunity of a lifetime" at Apple, but Big Blue wasn't impressed and filed suit to enforce a noncompete agreement IBM and Papermaster had signed. According to the settlement, Papermaster will have to certify to IBM in July and October 2009 that he hasn't violated his noncompete obligations in his new job.
In two separate press releases, Apple and IBM said the litigation was "resolved."
