The Wall Street Journal has reported in an email alert that 69-year-old Craig Barrett, who joined Intel as a manager in 1974, will step down at Intel's annual shareholder meeting in May.  Jane Shaw, another 69-year-old who has been an Intel director since 1993, will become non-executive chairman.

Like most tech companies, Intel has been affected by the current economy, but no major shakeup of management is expected.  Paul Otellini will remain as CEO.
