Sure, Nick Denton might think a 40 percent decline in Internet ad revenue is possible, but that won't stop some blog moguls from grabbing Gawker Media's sloppy seconds. Weblogs, Inc. and Mahalo founder Jason Calacanis tweeted that he would "consider" snatching up Gawker Media's über-consumer-friendly blog, The Consumerist, "if Denton wanted to offload it."
Well Jason, Consumerist is for sale. Were you serious about your tweet, or was this just more blog blather?
Nick Denton told me that Gawker has had "a surprising amount of interest" in Consumerist and the site is "extremely likely to be sold."
Repeated IMs and an email to Jason went unanswered. He's a busy guy after all -- between running Mahalo and trying to get the media to cover the purchase of his Tesla. Hey JCal, can I take it for a spin?
