Users of the popular microblogging service Twitter are still experiencing SMS delivery problems, according to the Twitter Status blog and a message posted at the top of user accounts.
The message on Twitter this morning read "SMS delivery is not working for many users. We are working with our providers to fix this." On Thursday, the Twitter Status blog reported problems with Verizon, and on election day the blog said T-Mobile and "other operators" were affected.
It is uncertain if the Twitter issues are related to lingering issues caused by heavy SMS traffic across all carriers on election night. The LA Times blog notes traffic on Sprint's network surged 30% in the Los Angeles area around the time results were pointing to Barack Obama winning the presidential election. AT&T also saw a 44% spike in SMS traffic, the blog reports.
