Package delivery firm FedEx Express said Wednesday it has raised its shipping capacity to and from Vietnam fivefold by adding new service using an Airbus A310.

Company executives said the new service was part of a commitment to a growing market.

The company, a unit of FedEx Corp., said it could now handle more than 30,000 kilograms (13,600 pounds) per day in and out of the country, reducing shipping times to and from the capital of Hanoi to one day.

Shipping times and cut-off hours will be unchanged in Ho Chi Minh City, the company said.

FedEx opened operations in Vietnam in 1994.
