Aerospace supplier Hamilton Sundstrand said Tuesday that it has been selected to provide the emergency power system for a new plane under development by European plane maker Airbus.

Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., will provide the Ram Air Turbine system for the new Airbus A350 XWB. Airbus, a unit of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., is building the wide body A350 as a possible competitor to Boeing Co. commercial planes like the Boeing 777.

Hamilton Sundstrand said it expects revenue of more than $500 million from the multiyear program. The company has already been selected to provide a power generation system for the A350.

Shares of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies gained 45 cents to $63.62 in morning trading.
