Political video blogger Citizen Kate - a.k.a. Kate Solgin - this election season got Digital Fountain's vote and its high-definition DFSplash video streaming technology for free for her offbeat coverage of the Democratic and Republican national conventions.

"Streaming high-quality video is what we need to really leverage what the net is capable of for media programmers like us," said Solgin,a University of Wisconsin communications graduate who got talked into the blogging gig over a beer before the primaries. "It finally gives citizen journalists and Internet entertainment programmers the opportunity to play at the same level as big, traditional television media, and it allows our viewers the opportunity to see the details of our clothing, eyes, and pores. What more can a girl ask for? And just think, Digital Fountain and their DF Splash product will allow everyone around the world to really see how super cute these candidates are online, while feeling closer to the action, and part of the experience."

DF Splash's crisp video can be viewed on Windows-based computers now, and will be viewable from Macintosh computers in September.

Citizen Kate.TV's humorous and perky style of political coverage has attracted kudos from other bloggers and journalists including the Economist, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune.

"We're use to seeing our video on the Internet with YouTube look crappy but now our video will look fantastic," said Carey Lundin, founder and co-producer of CitizenKate.TV, a production of Viva Lundin Productions in Chicago. "I'm psyched and grateful that Digital Fountain is taking a chance on us."

Digital Fountain's sponsorship has attracted others opportunities.Citizen Kate.TV will be played on the Web site Denver's popular rock and talk station, Alice 105.9, which will also be broadcasting her live reports from the conventions each morning. The show streams live to the Huffington Post and other Web sites. Citizen Kate.TV drew about 100,000 viewers during the primaries, Lundin said.

"No race will be won on the Web but on the streets," Lundin said."This election young people are involved in a way they have never been before. The most boring place to be during the convention is the convention floor, which is why we'll be covering the people and parties and hopefully with the help of Digital Fountain attracting a way bigger audience."

"With more and more video content online, viewers are demanding a consistent, high-quality experience that is compelling and entertaining- not just the same old poor quality video," said Digital Fountain CEO Charlie Oppenheimer. "We are pleased that Citizen Kate will besetting a new standard for TV-quality streaming video by using DFSplash to deliver her offbeat political videos from both conventions to enable an experience no other video delivery network can deliver."
