A comment on the eBay forums from seller 24hrpudding sums up the feelings of eBay sellers well:
"This is about a lot more than money. This is about basic values like self-esteem, freedom and autonomy. That is why there is such a frustrated outcry from sellers. We loved eBay for helping to set us free from the control of others and now it is eBay itself which is exerting more and more control over our efforts. We feel betrayed, hurt, frustrated and more and more powerless."
The sellers' reaction is based on the latest changes on eBay, which seem to place the long-time online auction site on a path toward becoming the next Amazon. Included in the new changes are pricing incentives for those who list fixed-price items and offer free shipping. In addition, the site is attempting to push U.S.-based sellers into a Pay-Pal-only payment acceptance model, a move that already failed for eBay in Australia.
eBay claims the changes are meant to lure back buyers who may no longer be using the site, but if the sellers leave the site, there won't be anything left for the buyers, many of whom are still looking for the eBay of the 90s, where you could find nearly anything being auctioned by small sellers who were the lifeblood of the company.

The corporate greed machine keeps on churning ... They killed those who made them moons ago. There are multitudes of alternatives out there. I use alsoshop.com myself and it works well for me. Due to feebays over comercialism, I have abandoned them, as they have I, and would never look back at the beast.
To limit Buyers the choice of payment option , to only paypal accepted , will decrease my sales on ebay.Money Orders and Personal Checks make up a significant percentage of my sales.eBay may think this will force buyers to use and sign up for paypal , if they havent already , they arent going to now. Some people are afraid of using online buying methods and chose to send payment by way of regular mail . Some of the changes made to eBay make me wonder if the Corporate is using a Magic 8 ball to make decisions. It doesnt take a genuis to figure out that More Money is good , Less money is bad , eBay may think they will make more by forcing all transactions be paid threw paypal , they already make a percentage of the final value fee from an item, another fee to list the item , and then make more money when sellers allow purchases be paid threw paypal as a convienince to the customer , this takes more money from the sale of items , if I cant make money , why would I want to continue to sell on ebay? Im not going to offer items to loose money , it doesnt work that way. I Go to auctions , and also sell New hard to Find Items. The big Change now is to offer free shipping , when the sellers ship for free , these are sellers who must not pay taxes , when a seller offers free shiping , rather than charging shipping , this is going to be a big headache come tax time when they pay taxes on the shipping charges that they didnt collect for. This become taxable money now for the sellers.I hope the C.E.O. gets a new Magic 8 Ball , the one in use now isnt working and wont , I hear Amazon has some!
