Microsoft Live Labs has announced that Photosynth, the environmental imaging software in development since 2006, is out of its closed beta and now available for anyone to use. Microsoft is hosting up to 20 gigabytes of space for each user to upload, stitch and display their own 3D environments created from images. New users must download a browser plug-in as well as software to render the images into a 3D environment. The rendering software is only for Windows XP and Vista.
The announcement seems to have driven a large amount of traffic to the site. Photosynth.com is currently down, but you can check out the community forum here to see what those who have used it think of it.
