Microsoft plans to buy Portuguese developer MobiComp, the software company announced this week.
MobiComp, a small company based in Braga, is supposed to become a development center dedicated to mobile products as part of the deal.
The value of the transaction was not revealed by Nuno Duarte, Microsoft's general manager for the Portuguese market. But MobiComp's CEO, Cralos Oliveira, said the company registered €3 million (US$4.7 million [m]) in business volume in 2007.
MobiComp is best known for products like MobileKeeper Backup & Restore, for the backup of mobile data; Mobile Keeper Sharing & Communities, for sharing data on mobile devices, and Active mTicker, for operators to send content, without being to invasive.
