My daughter Emily was passed down the iPhone I bought when it first came out. It didn't work for me so I gave it to her. That phone developed a small crack in the screen last fall but she kept using it. The crack got worse, propagated, and yesterday she dropped it again.

Now it's shattered, it's brains have been battered, splattered all over manhattan. Sorry about that, just couldn't resist a little Stones lyrics fun.

So I asked her if she wanted another iPhone. Surprisingly, the answer was no.

She wants the new crimson red Blackberry Curve.
Blackberry

Fortunately, it looks like I can get an unlocked one on eBay for between $100 and $200.

I wonder what this says? I realize it's a sample size of one, but I've heard that a bunch of her friends have also given up their iPhones in search of a better texting device which seems to be the one feature they value most.

Is she like 3?

I think it means your daughter is spoiled rotten.

As a long time blackberry user I would not get down with an Iphone, i tried for about three weeks but I had to have my Berry back. And I have also started to see a trend of Iphone users defecting to other smart devices with physical keyboards. My major compliant was the inconsistency in mail on the device, know my blackberry has its flaws but they are flaws I can live with for now because at the end of the day I know I'm going to get my mail.

P.S. My major complaints with the blackberry is the lack for support for Thunderbird and other none outlook PAM apps. I get around this with an hosted exchange service and wireless sync but it would be nice to see better support for other applications. And also the lack of Linux and open source love, yes I know that we are a small community but we are getting bigger in our own right and a little love would be nice.

i've been using the blackberry pearl for a while now, and it's just about fine for what i need, though it can be terribly fickle, ie it crashes, and systematically deletes all my texts, facebook entries and call history. unlike more commercial handsets, it doesn't seem to sync to any clock server, which is a real pain as i'm often in different time zones. the camera is awful too. but i get by, and i like the physical pushing of buttons to enter text.
i have an ipod touch, and when i use it for the internet, i'm still a little slow on typing in a URL.
having said that, if i'm sufficiently wowed by the 3G iphone i shall probably switch.

Wow - she should be playing with dolls, running in the backyard and have a small cute pet around the home...

People these days have no life and spend time connected... and typing comments to your blog or whatever this is called... damn it!
