the problem of the Kindle (despite the news of its high sales numbers) is that it is a niche product. Amazon would be stupid to take Audible off the iTunes store because it would loose millions of potential users only to ensure a lock-in of Audible users on the Kindle.
as for the Kindle as a delivery platform, yes, but noone in the industry will be afraid of this, especially not Apple. The Kindle is small market, ugly, and too expensive.
