Yahoo! to launch Fire Eagle

UPDATE: This prediction has been judged to have not occured. The prediction was that Fire Eagle would launch by Feb 18, which the community bet against. Fire Eagle has not launched yet, so the community was right. --The Industry Standard

While the tech media have been closely watching for the shoe to drop over at Yahoo, where significant job cuts were announced, and the Microsoft bid sucked all the oxygen out of the room, the media giant may be preparing to launch the fabled Fire Eagle.

Fire Eagle, an unusual name for a Web application that reminds us of a particular browser, is reported to broadcast one's location to websites. One can think of several useful applications for a service such as this (especially if one might be a parent or a narcissistic Web celebrity unafraid of potential stalkers).

The rumor mill has started to heat up around an accellerated project launch effort around Fire Eagle. We are really looking forward to the launch and are eager to see the outcome of this prediction.

This prediction will be judged on whether the product launches be the day the closing time expires.
