BOSTON - Microsoft Corp. unfurled Microsoft Producer on Wednesday, presenting the Office XP tool for adding streaming audio and video to digital slide presentations at the Streaming Media West conference in Long Beach, California.

Microsoft Producer incorporates HTML (HyperText Markup Language), Windows Media audio and video into PowerPoint presentations. It permits presentations to be uploaded to the Internet or immediately burned to a CD.

The product functions as an add-on to Microsoft's new office productivity software, and is due for release at the end of the year, according to a spokeswoman from Weber Shandwick Worldwide, Microsoft's public relations agency. Pricing details were not released.
