Tay: Call me skeptical, but the idea of putting an iMovie lite on the iPhone seems too much. I mean, the thing that made the iPhone (and iPod Touch, which I own) so great is the simple, intuitive interface. And video-editing programs by nature are neither simple nor intuitive (despite Apple's best efforts -- I used to be a heavy iMovie user on my iMac, and loved it).

But putting a video camera on the iPhone? That's not a question of "if", but rather "when", in my humble opinion. The memory, processing, power, and software challenges can definitely be solved, probably sooner rather than later.

Can't wait for WWDC next month!

I can go out and buy a Samsung phone for 20 USD which I can make video call upon. But the 300 USD Iphone can not make video calls. How stupid is that????

This is typical Apple - they had ALL of the necessary tech with the 1st Gen iPhone. The only thing missing was the software app, which you *know* they've been playing with in Cupertino for some time now. They hold back certain features in order to guarantee future releases perform well at the retail level.

My fear: they will not back-port the video tech when it is released. It will be for 3Gers and beyond.

Now for the latest: The iPhone will have a video record feature that allows for mobile video conferencing as well as function as a digital video camera.
