I heard the radio

I heard the radio manufacture qualcomm is in the works of a dual transmitter radio. So its not that unlikely. At this point anything is possible as far as the technology goes. Its up to Verizon and Apple to work out a deal that they can both agree on.

VZW should be comming out

VZW should be comming out with a new LTE network sometime in 2010. this new network will be compatable with a future iphone. the only problem is VZW and apple coming to an agreement when the contract with AT&T is up, which could be in 2010 or as late as 2012. VZW and apple couldn't come to an agreement the first time and thats why AT&T has exclusive rights. Cingular (AT&T) jumped on board knowing that the iphone would get people to join despite the network problems. The problems that VZW had with the agreement was that apple wanted to dictate where the iphone could be sold, which was only in VZW and apple stores. VZW didn't like that its other distribution partners such as best buy and walmart would not be able to carry the iphone, they also didn't like the fact that if you had a problem with your iphone you could only go to apple to get it fixed or replaced. and lastly, apple wanted a % of the monthly cell phone fees.

so the only way that i see that VZW will ever see an iphone is if apple and VZW can decide upon mutually benificial terms.

Lots of comments and

Lots of comments and opinions...BLAH BLAH BLAH....Lets see...First Verizon is not getting a iPhone this year or the next. iPhone's success is caused ATT's data usage to skyrocket and if you Verizon customers were using iPhone now, you would be whining about the huge data charges that Verizon would be charging you for every download etc like they do today. ATT is still 30 bucks a month. SO for 30 bucks a month, i can use all of the data i want. I love it. Yeah the call quality is better on Verizon because, look at the data usage? They have a lot of bandwidth for voice. Verizon would be in the same boat if they had the iPhone and not ATT. But wait, they had their chance first and blew it.

So all guys can do is whine. Keep at it or come over to ATT and buy a iPhone. CDMA and old dinosaur networks are gone. Verizon is doing the Apple MAC strategy and we know what happened with that....Bill gates ruled the world. While the rest of the planet and other carriers were moving ahead years ago, Verizon was doing ads about using their phone in Paris just a year or two ago. WOW...now how backwards can you get. I was using Nextel globally about 10 years ago. I travel the globe all the time and would never get a VZ phone.

I am a very loyal verizon

I am a very loyal verizon customer. This after being loyal to AT&T for 25 years. ( as land line, longdistance and wireless). I switched after a dispute over a phone bill concerning phone calls I never made. Since going to verizon I do not have that problem. I would love an iPhone but I will not deal with an unethical company to get one. At this point and time, what we have here is bordering on an anti trust situation with AT&T and Apple. I do not forsee Apple extending their exclusive contract with AT&T.

You really have no idea what

You really have no idea what your talking about do you. How can you say that AT&T rules in one line and then say that if Verizon gets the Iphone AT&T will suck? If they rule then they rule right. Now as for AT&T ruling you must not travel much because I have both the IPhone (AT&T) and the BlackBerry (Verizon) because of my work I wanted to get a new phone so I thought I would switch over to the IPhone (3GS) and then dump the BlackBerry but I have not been able to because the phone quality and the reception is so bad and I know it's not because I have a bad phone because I got one for my girlfriend and she is having to do the same thing (she also has a BlackBerry from Verizon) and I travel all over for my work and so does my girlfriend (both different places) and we are having to use the BlackBerry all the time (keep in mind that when we got the IPhone we were going to get rid of the BlackBerry). AT&T has some of the worst coverage I have ever used and as soon as someone else gets the IPhone I am leaving AT&T (I don't care how much they charge me to leave early). My friend said it best when asked how he likes the IPhone he said "Its the best phone out there as long as you don't use it to make a call". And what do you mean that people are hating on you anyway, do you have control of AT&T and make the decisions about the company because that's the only reason why someone would hate you.

Was told by a verizon representative just 3 days ago that iphone would be out February 2010. Super excited as I have refused to leave Verizon. All my friends have the iphone and I am now the only hold out. I hate AT&T service as do they but they love their iphones.

I wouldn't count on it. Verizon just yesterday announced their own "app store" to compete with Apple's app store for the iPhone. In doing so, Verizon is perpetuating their model of owning the user interface, functionality and apps run on the phones it uses.

I went into my local Verizon store because of the previous post and asked about the iPhone and instead of the same old answer of “I have no idea” the rep said in 2010 but said nothing else.

Can someone else please also confirm this with a Verizon wireless near them.

Was in a Verizon store today

Was in a Verizon store today looking at products that compare to an iPhone and was told that I should wait until this Fall. The rep said Verizon would be getting iPhones in the next few months. Another rep said the technology was already in place and that both AT&T and Verizon would be carrying the iPhones. So I'll limp along on my old flip phone a while longer. This may also explain why Apple stock has been running up recently...maybe some "in the know" have been buying in anticipation of a huge base of Verizon accounts that will be upgrading to their new option.

Verizon iPhone announced at Macworld 2009?

Judgment made on January 9, 2009: No Verizon iPhone was introduced at MacWorld. Verizon subscribers remain iPhone-less. -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction: Without question, the iPhone has revolutionized the wireless phone industry. Since its announcement almost two years ago, many diehard Verizon wireless subscribers have lamented the lack of a Verizon iPhone and been generally disappointed by the attempts of Apple’s competitors to deliver a Verizon “iPhone killer”.

Famously (or perhaps infamously), Steve Jobs & Apple actually approached Verizon first about the iPhone but were unable to come up with a deal. Enter AT&T (formerly Cingular), and the rest is history.

It has been reported that AT&T’s contract with Apple makes it the exclusive carrier for the iPhone for anywhere from two years (2009 expiration) to as long as five years (2012 expiration), to most recently reported three years (into 2010). This naturally has led to widespread confusion. The lockup has even landed the attention of politicians.

With the two year mark arriving in 2009, rumors galore are percolating about the iPhone coming to the Verizon network.

Prediction: Will Apple announce at 2009 MacWorld the availability of an iPhone on the Verizon network for sometime in 2009? For this prediction to come true an announcement about the future availability in 2009 need only be made. The Verizon iPhone does not have to be available for sale at MacWorld.
