All of Garmin's Aviation products are manufactured in the US, simply because the FAA has to inspect the units and certify them.

So the reporter doesn't know

So the reporter doesn't know that these units were used, yet decides to single out one manufacturer?

Why not name the manufacturer of the clothes the terrorists wore? Or their guns? Or the bullets? Or the transportation method they used? How about their phone manufacturer for the calls they might have made to coordinate the attack? Why one could use a map published by their government, walk it off in latitude and longitude, and attack that way?

If one is going to report the details, get them right. The pictured aviation GPS unit is manufactured in Taiwan. While the terrorists may very well use the aviation units, they could also obtain much cheaper consumer devices for the same accuracy level. Of course, this won't have the same dramatic and fear-mongering effect as something with an airplane on it.

Insignificant detail, but my

Insignificant detail, but my Garmin packaging says, "Designed in the U.S.A., made in Taiwan." If it was indeed manufactured in the U.S.A., that would have made more sense to me considering the prices of these things.

Briefly: Mumbai terrorists use guns, grenades and Garmin

The terrorists who attacked Mumbai last week with automatic rifles and grenades also used a Garmin GPS device.

Indian investigators seized the device and are using it to track the terrorists' route into Mumbai, according to The Hindu. The FBI is also studying data from the GPS, which was manufactured in the United States, the paper reported.

The terrorists may have used digital maps from Google Earth as well.

Garmin is considered the world's leader in navigational devices and had 24.9% of the global market share for GPS devices last year, more than any of its competitors.
