I have this laptop, and love

I have this laptop, and love it. ONE HUGE BUT: the motherboard fried already. sent to HP as under wqarrentee. they are saying they wont cocer the warrentee due to liquid damage. I know for a fact there has been absolutely NO liquid speilled on it, as liquids are not allowed in the room I use this in. they sent me pictures of the damage through email. The pictures are of a laptop that has a big scratch on the side, and mine does NOT have this scratch. there trying to show me picts of damaged one and saying its mine so they dont have to replace the motherboard. I had my repair man who has worked on my other pc I have, he looked at it, all over inside and out, and said that ther eis no liquid damage and that the picts are not of the insides of mine. so beware of HP as they do not cover their warrentee as they state. so now I am out a new comouter die to defective motherboard and they wont cover it because they came up with some bull shi* story to make it so they didnt have to validate the warrentee. ALL I CAN SAY IS BEWARE, AND LOOK ELSEWHERE WHERE THE COMPANY IS NOT AS CROCKED AS HP

I agree with he meant to say

I agree with he meant to say ATI GPU and AMD Dual Core Processor. Considering this what my HP Laptop has. HP doesn't use Intel for there processors. I don't think so at least.

I am currently a senior at

I am currently a senior at the University of Texas studying petroleum geology. I recently purchased HP's Touchsmart TX2z this past summer. No, I didn't spend $1,000+. Instead, I purchased this laptop at ubid.com. I managed to bid at $600 for a fully upgraded and refurbished Touchsmart TX2z. I do admit, the laptop had some minor program errors the first week after I purchased it. But after reformatting the computer and using iolo System Mechanic, the laptop's performance considerably improved. I am a student, and I can't thank HP enough for designing a simple yet very practical laptop. For instance, I use Microsoft OneNote 2007 on the daily basis to jot down key points during lectures. I can clip images from the web, record an audio file into the notes, upload powerpoint notes into my set of notes, make annotations on pdf documents in either text or handwritten notes, and the best part is that it acts like a digital binder. One last thing, HP Customer Service rocks my socks! When I was having issues in the beginning, i.e. laptop background was disorientated, pen failed to work, etc, the guys at HP Customer Service resolved the issue faster than I can do shop for my weekly groceries at the supermarket (gear in mind, I am a college student afterall).

To those of you that are thinking about purchasing this laptop, this is just my suggestion. If you like my suggestions, you may take them; and if you don't like my suggestion, you can just drop it. This laptop requires a good amount of software knowledge, especially N-trig DuoSense Digitizer (the pen/ handwriting input software), more so than the average laptop out there in the market. Some questions you might want to ask yourself... Do you take notes? How frequently do you take notes? Are you an artist? Maybe, an artist at heart? Do you consider yourself a teacher? maybe, a not so professional teacher? If you answered more than half of these questions with a yes, YOU NEED TO GET THIS LAPTOP... RIGHT MEOW!

Best of luck friend,

Tommy B

This really does look like a sweet laptop but already there are issues with it, for example the screen when touching it when its open seems to very unstable hp you need to fix this, secondly it more aimed at artist and designer rather than the avrage person or stundents, and thirdly its not win 7 ready so why pay all that money then win 7 comes out and you will be basically in the stone age with vista.

Personaly I would wait dont buy HP altough there very good HP have always lacked something in todays competative market and are a thing of the past. Touch screen laptops are only just going to get better so really there is no point blowing over $1000 dollars that will be aged in a few months.

PC recomendations for the moment would be apples mac book pro, or why not check out acer's new range they have some stunning laptops for great value.

But for the moment i think this HP touchscreen tx2 is just going to be out dated in a matter of months.

I have this HP Touchscreen. Im a realestate developer for commerical properties. I love the writing tablet use it in all my meeting becuase I cant type that fast. then i email my notes or convert them. I also correct alot of contracts I get by adding my comments right on the PDF files I get. Its great, becauce I use my system so much its nice i can use my hands, the pen digitizer or key board. i thinks its worth the money I spent to get it. Like any laptop it has it quirks, buts its all good. i would say only purchaes if your really into computers and will use the features this system has. If your not really, really a user the get a normal laptop

Buy a Dell great experience

Buy a Dell great experience with their laptops just brought a Studio 1737 widescreen desktop replacement and a Inspiron 1545 15. inch ice blue, both have a webcam the Studio has a 2.0 pixel webcam and the Inspiron has a 1.3 pixel webcam, they both have 4 GB, DDR2,800 MHz 2 Dimm and the Studio 1737 has a backlit keyboard, the keyboard went out a week after I had it and Dell replaced it with a new one while I kept theold until the new one came and I sent back the one that did not work. They both have the MicrosoftOffice 2007 Home and Student Edition and lots of other stuff I had added. to both for entertainment , school and work. I have enjoyed my laptops even though they are not a touch screen, I would rather have a regular laptop like a Dell l, ooks like the one he is showing still has a lot of kinks to be worked out. Plus do they stand behind their product? what about the warranty ?, how long does it take to replace or fix ? and do they have a Dell certified technician who comes to your home like Dell to fix it ? Great customer service experience!!! Take my advice and BUY a DELL you won't regret it. I promise.!!!

Simply, the lappy looks rly nice, NOT for everyday use but for artists and designers, I would only buy this to make onscreen sketches and drawings for my designs.
# Yes the operator in the video knows F~~K all about computers "... it has an ATI Dual Core Processor with 2 gigs of ram and a 250 gigabyte hard drive.. which is pretty good for 1149.."

Well let me tell you I can have a larger HDD, and more ram and still have the same price. So no, its not great value for money.

ATI Dual Core - i think he means it has an ATI GPU ; and an Intel C2D processor.. but he's so novice I cant make it out..

GREAT LAPTOP -- NOOB PRESENTER.

HP releases touch-screen laptop

Hewlett Packard has a new multi-touch tablet PC.

The Touchsmart tx2 lets users select and drag files with their fingertips. HP's previous Touchsmart machines were desktops created as all-purpose family machines to check e-mail, leave messages, listen to music and view photos.

"Breezing through websites and enjoying photos or video at the tap, whisk or flick of a finger is an entirely new way to enjoy digital content on a notebook PC," said Ted Clark, the manager of HP's notebook group, in a press release.

The tablet also has a standard keyboard and mouse, and a digital pen to take notes directly onto the screen.

Early reviews of the machine are favorable. Gizmodo called it a "multi-touch wonder." LAPTOP magazine reported that while the touch screen isn't as user friendly as the iPhone, the experience is pleasant. And Stuff.tv praised the laptop's swivel display, "which lets you caress your snaps and flick through tunes without having to resort to the keyboard."

The new laptop comes at a time when HP is doing remarkably well, given the economic climate. HP's stock went up 14.5 percent yesterday, The Associated Press reported. The company also announced that fourth-quarter and 2009 results would be better than expected, according to the report.

The tablet is available beginning today starting at $1,149. To see a video demo of what it's capable of, click here or watch the following video:
