As an aside: Keep in mind that January 26 is the Chinese New Year, in 2009. It is an important holiday in their tradition, which practices include exchanges of gifts. :-)

@Eric, nice sleuthing there! Technically, it doesn't make sense for Apple to create a non-GSM based iPhone. However, the sheer size of the China mobile market is just too big to ignore as well.

Original prediction: With the launch of the iPhone, Apple has become one of the most influential players in the wireless mobile market in the world.

Despite the iPhone being manufactured in China, Apple has failed to reach an agreement to launch its popular mobile phone there.

However, there is now some indication that Apple may have reached an agreement with China Mobile.

Predict: Will Apple will make a formal announcement of an iPhone launch in China by the end of January 2009?
