The August 2008 winner of The Standard's prediction market prize is Kevin Railsback. He made one all-or-nothing bet on the 3G jailbroken iPhone prediction, while others exercised caution. Kevin's big gamble proved to be fruitful.
"I could have either been in the top few, or the bottom few, depending on how that went," Kevin told me earlier today after learning of August's outcome. "I would have had -49995 if I lost that [bet]."
Until we have a leaderboard on-site that shows everyone's percentage gain day-to-day, I'll be posting the top-ten gainers here at the end of each month.

David Kuan was not eligible to win the August prize according to the rules of the game (David won in June, so he has to wait 3 months before he can be eligible to win again). You'll probably notice that I'm on the list, too, but I'm also not eligible to win any prizes for obvious reasons.

@David: Another two months with the same percentage gains and you'll be on top (and a bit over 40 million).
@Bradley, it is getting harder and harder to generate a high % gains. August might be the last month of greater than 100% gain. To date, I am at 15% gains for September. With 2 1/2 weeks to go, it is unlikely for me to break the 100% gain mark.
Thanks, David. I was very excited to learn that I'd won since I've been wanting to get a Slingbox.
Now that I've won something, maybe I'll take some more risky positions for the next month or two and see if I can do the same, or if not start from scratch and see what I can build. Now that a lot of the kinks are worked out this is getting to be much more fun. =)

@Eric, TIS predictions seems to be going through a "lull" with only a handful of predictions for judgment in September, October and November although I suspect December will be an active month given the numerous predictions set to close. Hopefully, more predictions for Sept-Nov comes into play soon.
This is very true. It's a relatively slow news cycle in the tech world at the moment. We're working on adding several more in the coming days. ROI will be varied, however.
