After a bit of a delay, The Standard’s team blog is finally here. FTW!
Over the past six months, we have found ourselves time and time again discussing various aspects of the PM (prediction market) with some of our top players. We never really had a good place to do it, however. One minute the discussion would cover the intricacies or semantics of, say, jailbreaking an iPhone, the next we would be creating PM wishlists and sharing product enhancement ideas back and forth.
So, until we have a proper forum, right now we’ll be doing a lot of the PM functionality discussions with core users over here. We really value your feedback and look forward to the future discussions we’ll have.
Also, the Team Blog will be a place where we announce new site features, events, programs, jobs, and other tidbits as they relate to the site, the team, and your experiences at thestandard.com.

Kudos! Well done! U rock!
Now, some wishlist ideas for enhancements ....
1) Networth trending
- single member
- multi member
2) Reputation model
3) Add prediction and suggestion to My Watch list
4) Alerts (email, IM, mobile)
- new or watched prediction added
- prediction about to close
- activity on prediction
- % thresholds
- amount thresholds
5) Template for prediction suggestion
6) Volume and % chart (daily, 1m, 3m, 6m, 1yr, or interactive)
7) Loan/Margin feature
8) Forum
9) Graduated judgement/payouts (useful for metric predictions, example below)
100% - Met or exceeded target metric
75% - 2% or less away from but not exceed target metric
50% - 4% or less away from but not exceed target metric
25% - 8% or less away from but not exceed target metric
0% - More than 8% away from but not exceed target metric
10) Mutliple outcomes predictions (this allows for predictions that can have multiple potential outcomes (i.e. more than 2)
11) Betting wizard (utlity to allow members to see the impact of a new bet position on a prediction). Currently, there is no way of telling how one's bet will move the consensus % and what the potential ROI when judged.
12) Open/Cashed Out/Closed predictions in My Predictions be in a panel different tabs (current layout requires scrolling)
13) Ability to see shared/non-shared connections at a glace (sort of like LinkedIn)
14) Account replenishment (ability to submit request to TIS for approval)
Fantastic - thanks for consolidating this all into one mega-list. We've got some of our own, too, and will want to prioritize it all.
For instance, if you think in terms of iterative phases - and not one gigantic release - I'd rather see the charts on the site before graduated judgments/payouts, account replenishment before forum, etc.
Think Netflix queue. ;)
@Eric, is this Team Blog supposed to be a single thread? If not, how to create a different blog thread?
No, not intended to be a single thread. We're working hard on a future release. Hence, the lack of posts here. We'll be posting some exciting updates here in the next two weeks, knock on wood. Was there something else you wanted to discuss?
I can tell you that we've been inundated with spam lately. You guys only see a tiny tip of the iceberg, but there is a surprising number of human beings out there with lots of time on their hands. No matter how smart the spam tools out there, they are never able to outwit actual human beings. We can block people, but it's almost like a virus. Sorry it's been clogging the RSS feed lately.
@Eric, I was wondering about how the team blog was gonna work. I don't see a way to create new blog (i.e. new subject thread). If this were to be one single thread, it would get really convoluted fairly quickly.
As for the spam, I can feel TIS pain. It will continue to be a struggle. The only way to get rid of human-spammers-with-too-much-time-on-their-hands is for them to find another "juicier" target.
Hm, we don't have a "create your own thread" option. This is a place where, for now, we post about new updates, events, etc. BUT - until we have a forum, discussing site issues, theories, etc. are fair game. I'll do my best to bring relevant issues here more in the future until the forum is up and running (late '08 is the schedule).
@Eric, the spams are getting worse (whoever this "Sohbet" claims to be). Are those spams coming from same set of IP addresses? If so, spam blockers can probably blacklist those IP addresses.
