Audio and Video
Winner: Hulu
Hulu is a free and legal online video service that provides movies, TV shows and video clips. The interface is clean and incredibly intuitive. Based on Adobe Flash 9, Hulu is completely viewable within an Internet browser negating the need for special downloads or plug-ins for the majority of Web surfers that already enjoy online video.
Hulu offers its content through an advertising model that is setting the standard for (and becoming the envy of) online video businesses. Additionally, Hulu currently offers fewer ads than broadcast TV making the viewing experience quite enjoyable.
More recently, Hulu has begun to offer live streaming content, like the Vice Presidential debate between Sarah Palin and. Joe Biden. We expect Hulu to expand its live content offerings more and more as its customer base continues to grow. Since late October, 2007, Hulu has grown to nearly 2.5 million unique visitors a month, according to compete.com.
